Project: Festival of the Human Voice

Zavod Celeia Celje will take part in this years European call for Culture, Strand 1.2.1 EACEA, applying the Festival of the Human Voice project.

They are searching for partners who may find the interest in the common realization of the project.

Festival of the Human Voice is an international project, with specific objective -  to research the use and expression of the human voice in contemporary creative and interpretational music and multimedia practises. In all cultural environments, the human voice  plays a role of the interpreter of the national language, one of the basic elements within each culture and is even today an indispensable part of national identity.
Project is based on trans-national mobility.

The main activities are:

- educational and creative workshops

-expert consultations and artistic residences, which will be held in Slovenia and all partner countries.

Through this tools they will encourage uniqueness and seek for specific contact points in different aspects of using the human voice, from the traditional solo, chamber and choral expression to artistic manipulation of voice with modern technological equipment. With this approach we will reach general public at Europan level by involving local communities from partner countries into the role of active audience.

Main event will be held in Slovenia as an international competition for young creators.  The results of all mentioned activities will be presented within exhibitions, concerts and multimedia events presented in April 2011 on the International Youth Choir Festival Celje (MMPF), a traditional ceremony, which co-creates the European Choral life since 1946. This project upgrades and re-form the old concept of MMPF into a process not only event but continous action in partners countries and Slovenia. The main event of the 29th MMPF will be a debut presentation of international productions of the multimedia spectacle, with a performance by a unique European youth choir and the creators of various profiles.

It is this event, with joining the creative energy of the young and also already recognizable authors, that will provide a new added value to the MMPF, and will also be seen on venue stages of the partner countries.

We are inviting you to prepare at least one workshop on the topic human voice between May 2010 and March 2011, and suggest the possibility of the collaboration within the International Youth Choir Festival in Celje.

OCARINA project intends to promote cultural mobility, to increase artistic exchange, to improve networks at European level and enhance capacity building of agents and cultural organisations working on traditional/folk music.
The name derives from an ancient folk musical instrument.

Target and Activities developed during the project:
1. Exchanges between cultural producers and European organizations;
2. Music festivals with the musicians from the partner countries;
3. Artistic residencies for musicians working on folk music or traditional "root" music;
4. Workshops on cultural production and cultural management;
5. Creating a network of cultural organizations at a European level.

Description of the Activities and relative Aims.
Exchanges will be organized in the partner countries.
The goal of these exchanges is for the cultural agents involved to get acquainted with the cultural realities of the hosting countries.
This action is especially important for to get to a face to face detailed definition of all the activities in the project and for partners to develop sustainable strategies.

This project includes music festivals with concerts from each partner country focused on traditional music or traditional root music. Whenever possible, it is a priority that these festivals are organized in historical monuments, contributing to their promotion as well. From the artistic/social point of view, the aim of this initiative is to promote intercultural dialogue; at the same time it contributes for reducing disproportions in terms of opportunities between artists coming from different- less or more developed and populated - areas. It also aims to increase the number of artists taking part in European initiatives and hopes to generate new joint programmes and structured forms of mobility, which contributes for the sustainable mobility of artists.

There will be artistic residencies with musicians from the partner countries. This initiative has the objective of developing artistic skills, creativity and the capability for innovating, focusing on traditional repertoires.  The artistic residencies will have open days to the communities with the goal of promoting intercultural dialogue.

Workshops will be organized and their goal is to provide training opportunities that help to increase the skills of the cultural agents. It is hoped to incentive the creation of new mobility opportunities for agents and artists where it is most needed. This need is particularly felt in Portugal where the local and national networks are fragile.

Partners:
360 Graus, Cultura e Ambiente, Lda (Évora, Portugal)
Leilear (Santiago de Compostela, Spain)
Piccola Bottega Baltazar (Padua, Italy)

COMPETITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The OLYMPIA-ART prominently public benefit foundation was formed in June 2009, to organise a noble contest between the branches of art. The foundation wishes to organise the Olympic Games of art every four years, beginning in 2011.

The open aim of the foundation is to revive and establish a contest between the representatives of the arts.

We hope that, similar to sport, the experience that has been forgotten today, and is only at the centre of interest on special occasions, i.e. the demand for arts, will become part of our daily lives.

Along with the initial numerous organisational activities, one of the important tasks is the creation of a symbol and an anthem for the Olympics.

We would like to announce a competition for this, in which the emblem and the musical symbol of our organisation will be selected in an international contest.

According to our plans, the most suitable pieces will be selected by an international board of judges from among the competition works submitted.

For the creators of the winning submissions we would like to develop a remuneration standard that would befittingly appreciate the work of the artists. The authors of these works, together with the fame, must be rewarded with befittingly worthy recognition.

Deadline for submission of competition work: 12 pm, 30th November 2009

The "Lefkara Laces" represent one of the most important elements of Cyprus's intangible culture heritage.

The tradition of Lefkara Lace making started during the Venetian period in Cyprus (1489-1571), when the Venetian court used Lefkara as their summer retreat.  Through the interaction with the noble ladies, the Lefkara women who were already famous for their embroideries and Lace making skills, added to their traditional technique, influences taken from the Venetian.

The masterpieces that came out of the combination of both techniques, leaded to what is known as the "Lefkara Laces".

The project's objective is to establish a strategy and the corresponding methodology for its implementation for the protection, preservation and re-introduction of the Lefkara Laces as art masterpieces of high cultural value, manifestations of the superior outcome of the combination of the different skills and abilities of different peoples, in the course of a long historic evolution. The project aims at establishing an intercultural dialogue among the peoples that contributed towards the creation of what is known as the "Lefkara Lace" or peoples that have experienced similar historic evolutions in their cultural development, for the exchange of historic knowledge; the recording of the historic route or patterns that can lead to the creation of art craft; and the development of an intercultural dialogue that can define a possible model of creating art of cultural value through the combination of knowledge accumulated in different countries.

The proposed project includes the following actions:

1. Recording and archiving of all embroideries and patterns that exist in private and public collections with a detailed description of the technique and special motives used on each individual piece, as well as information on the lace maker and the period of making.

2. Development of a plan for the "Lefkara Laces Museum", with a "Lefkara Lace" permanent exhibition and a center for the presentation of the lace making process and its evolution over the centuries. The presentations will be made by experienced Lefkara Lace Makers that practice the skill to date.

(The project will include a multimedia presentation of the process)

3. Development of a road exhibition consisting of high quality Lefkara Laces to visit EU countries. The exhibition and the program for the road show will be done in cooperation with the project partners.

4. Design and execution of a research program pertaining to the connection between Lefkara Laces and the Venetian Art.

5. Study and develop the plan and action steps for an annual European "Lace Making" Festival, to be organized by the project country -partners.

6. Creation of a European Information Network Center for the Lefkara Laces over the centuries, for the eventual recording of the historic and evolution of the Lefkara Laces, as a cultural art craft that can reveal the influences of times and historic events over peoples. I.e Venetian influence on Cyprus; economic deterioration of Cyprus; family roles and the sociological attitutional behaviors; the economic flourishing of the European countries and the consequences of the world wars oh the habitual behaviors of the Europeans; tourism in Cyprus; etc

ESTIMATED BUDGET
Estimated Budget: €380000
European Commission Financing: €185000 (50%)

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

In the context of ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS a selection of drawings by international artists will be presented anonymously at KUNSTRAUM KREUZBERG / BETHANIEN. The general exhibition preparation starts with an international call for entries on the Internet. No demands are being made; age, biography or heritage of the originator do not play any role for the selection.

The artist's anonymity can be lifted by means of purchasing a drawing for the symbolic unit sales price of 150 EUR. The buyer can take his drawing right off the wall and s/he is then told the name of its author. The empty space the drawing leaves behind will be marked with the artist's full name and country of origin.

The given unit sales price should not be seen as a real market price, but as a place holder for any conceivable amount of money. Because the works are from both established artists and laymen, it is expected from the viewer to draw his own line between art and not-art. Common, art specific mechanisms like the importance of an artists' ego, price formation or prepared qualities which can be referred to a specific art context, should be reversed in this exhibition in an experimental way: the artists engage themselves to put their own person into the background for the benefit of the actual product, their artistic work.

We represent Regional Library "Stiliyan Chilingirov" city of Shumen - Bulgaria. Shumen is a ccity with a rich and remarkable history. It is located near the first Bulgarian capitals in the "cradle" of the Bulgarian state. The region is one of the most - attractive tourist destinations in the country. Shumen has always been an important cultural center.

Our library has existed since 1922 as a public deposit library and today has a fund of 750 000 library units - paper and digital media information. After Bulgaria's accession to the European Union in terms of dynamic civil society and the entry of new information and communication technologies in all spheres of life, our library is looking for innovative forms of work. Our library (organization, institution) is looking for a partner to develop joint, mutually beneficial projects. We believe that creating a contact with you will find a field for cooperation and development.

Guided by the idea of the variety of the common European culture and the common cultural heritage, we think that our organizations have similar interests and priorities. We are willing to offer partnership in the development of projects in areas of interest to you.

The team of the library is working for several years on a long-term program to promote literary works in an attractive and unusual way - through literary tourist routes. We believe that the knowledge and the promotion of art and literature of different nations, will lead to the promotion of intercultural dialogue. And a future cooperation will enable contacts of different cultural communities. Another important topic on which we would like to work is the role and place of the woman-librarian in a globalizing society.

We are open to ideas for future collaboration. If your library (organization) is interested, we would be happy to make contactand collaborate.

Although we do not have impressive history or historical memeorials as well in Łódź we are really unique. The city has got an industrial character, and it is known from its large, grey, blind walls in the very center. That is why I think Łódź should be a great gallery of Street Art.

We really love street art and we are conscious, that this is the most interesting domain of  XXI century art. We cooperate with very talented street-art artist from Łódź, and from Poland. Our Outline Foundation started from a conference FROM A STREET: STREET ART, which took place in our new contemporary art museum M2.  Tristan Manco and Cedar Levisohn took part in it. Our planns are very ambicious. We are going to act all over the year. We have got very interesting project considrering various art activities in a public space such as paintings, concerts, street art games, dance, performances, instaltions, sculptures, street sports and many others. We are looking for partners from Norway.

We really adore Dolk and Poebel work in their project SPEDALSK GHETTO.  We have got really interesting places and eager artists and partners in Łódź to run our project but we have got difficulties to contact anybody from Norway .

A gender distinction is a fact. A woman and a man differs from each other in so many ways that perhaps the only common ground between them is being a homo sapiens. Biological differences are uncontested but we could and should discuss and think about the phenomenon of social gender. There are some dos and dont's of co-existing of men and women. But yet, customarily accepted social roles produce some problems and restrictions, too, especially when we take a closer look at „a happy family" or so-called.

Many artists have been working on these theme. About a century ago, in the same time, in two different countries, a man and a woman were writing about tragedies of people closed by four walls of their homestead. These writers were Henrik Ibsen in Norway and Gabriela Zapolska in Poland. Their works have been staged all over the world from then until nowadays. Maybe not so controversial as they were that time but still up to date, they are talking about problems which have not disappeared. The lack of love, the lack of understanding, mental violence and incessant fear of the judgement of public opinion - each and every of these is related to social gender and can be a reason of misery. These are the dramas of ordinary people living in a self-made domestic hell.

Our project is based on the unusual similarity of Ibsen's and Zapolska's characters. We want to write a theatre script and produce a performance in which these characters and their stories can meet and interact. This will be the starting point to a discussion of social gender, meaning of stereotypes and its influence on family relationships. We would like to have a closer look at these topics as a contemporary people and artists.

Artistic Group TERAZ POLIŻ ("LICK NOW") is a socially engaged theatrical formation which was founded by young women - both actresses and directors.

EXPECTATIONS FROM PARTNER(S)

The main idea of the project bases on the connection between the dramaturgy of Henrik Ibsen and Gabriela Zapolska. Therefore, we would like to co-operate with Norwegian artists (especially actors) or/and Norwegian institution(s) during the process of creation work and later - in organizing the shows of our performance.

Firstly, we are looking for young people (actors or students of acting) who would like to work with us on this project and perform the show later on. During the process we will write a theatre script, which will be combined Polish, English and Norwegian. We need two to four actors or actresses, speaking no less than basic English, with some performing experience and improvisation experience as well. We are also interested in co-operation with Norwegian musician or composer. Therefore, we are looking for an independent theatre group or for school of performing arts.

Secondly, we are looking for an institution, which can provide a residence for working process, or/and the stage to perform the final effect. We want part of our work to be brought in Poland and another part - in Norway. We want to give premiere show both in Poland and in Norway. After that we would like to perform in Poland and in Norway, too.  Therefore, we are interested in venues, festivals or cultural centres.

We would also appreciate accommodation for Polish artists during their residence.

The Euro-Med Young Artist Network (EMYAN)  is  launching  the  call  for entries  for  the  second edition of  the Online Arts Festival taking place between the 20th and the 30th of October 2009. The Festival wants to stimulate young artists from the Euro-Mediterranean region. EMYAN  also  stands  for  artistic  collaboration  across  regions  and  the Online Arts Festival wants to highlight creativity using  innovative  tools for expression and sharing of ideas. The theme a r t i f i c e aims to spotlight artists  ingenuity  and  cleverness  by  use  of  diverse methods  of  define  a more engaged art practice.

"Spaces  for  interactivity",  the Festival newly  featured special category, will reflect traditional and new game cultures in urban spaces across Europe and the Mediterranean. By stimulating the presentation of traditional games and reinventing techniques for interactive gaming, the festival entries hope to reflect artistry and resourcefulness.
