ECHO Sculpture and Sound

Prosjekt: ECHO Sculpture and Sound

"ECHO" (Experimental Cultural Concept for Heterogeneous Organizers) is a one year artistic experimental laboratory focusing on sculptural and multimedia group and individual projects relating to the spatial situation of the surrounding landscape, and which are chiefly produced during artists' work and study residencies at the studios in Denkmalschmiede Höfgen. The results will gradually form a multimedia sculpture exhibition in the riverside area in and around Grimma.

"ECHO" culminated in an international festival entitled "Sculpture & Sound" in June 2003.
"ECHO" intends to provide a framework for various artistic approaches. It is aimed not only at sculptors, audio and media artists, but also disciplines such as literature, theatre, composition and photography. The title "Sculpture and Sound" symbolises apparent incompatibilities: sculpture and media, the visual and the virtual. Hence the title "Echo - Sculpture and Sound" is deliberately meant to be provocative - yet above all a challenge.
