Prosjekt: PATHS CROSSING - mobility and production project for emerging European visual arts

PATHS CROSSING is organized by a group of artist-in-residence programmes in the Northern Europe to discover and support new talent in the emerging spheres of European visual culture and to provide international mobility for visual art professionals from Eastern Europe.

For the participating individuals the Project will offer creative encounters with international colleagues, customized production support and a dynamic working environment nurturing critical dialogue, reflective self-assessment and professional capacity-building. Via the Project activities the participants will be able to expand the scope of their professional contacts on an international level, improve their working practices and execute a complete art production from an idea to a finished work.

A core motivation of the Project is to examine solutions for artists' mobility grounded on the specific circumstances of artistic processes rather than any state- or nation-specific cultural policies. The organizers will also be able to strengthen their networking capacities, create new models for collaborative action both on an individual and on an organizational level and gain experiences on providing production support to further substantiate and enhance the outcomes of residency activities.

Residencies are complemented by a number of workshops, lectures, screenings, exhibitions and other public events, through which the processes and results of the Project activities will become visible to the communities of the host cities. The organizers will also hold two annual meetings with workshops with invited lecturers for internal assessment and planning of the Project.

A collection of web tools will be developed to enable the participants to engage on an ongoing basis in an in-depth dialogue on various practical, methodological and ethical issues of the Project. The portal will also be used to communicate the challenges, experiences and results of the Project to European art professionals and audiences.
