Performing ArtsArts Council Norway’s funding for performing arts are primarily intended to support independent theatres and dance companies, to boost innovative contemporary dramatic art outside the institutional theatres and to stimulate contemporary dance activities. Although the funding is based on project applications, support may be given to activities ranging from single productions to work programmes involving several productions and networking between cultural operators. Initiatives designed to promote interdisciplanarity between different genres in the performing arts are ecouraged. Funding is also provided for the presentation of Norwegian productions abroad as well as foreign productions in Norway.
